Rossi at Laguna Seca, Bayliss at Brno

What a great weekend for motorcycle roadracing the Laguna Seca MotoGP event was. We had Motogp, World Superbike, superstock, stk600, stk1000, AMA superbike, superstock, Red Bull Rookies, etc... I still haven't seen all the races I want to.

Brief results:

Bayliss took the double at Brno (Following his usual pattern... Smrz was fast in practice and performed not so well in the race) Biaggi and Corser were solid in both races. Michel Fabrizio pulled out a second place in race #2 for a factory Ducati 1-2 finish. This was World Superbike Championship's 500th race.

MotoGP... Wow! This has not been the most exciting season so far but Rossi changed that at least for the USGP. Both vintage Rossi and something new since the 4-strokes and traction control replaced the wild 500ccs. I'm a Ducati guy so I generally go for Stoner, but seeing Rossi race like that after Stoner dominated qualifying just to give a show- then actually WIN- was as multi-time AMA champion Mat Mladin put it, "inspiring". Hayden and other Michelin tire users were frustrated on race day. Apparently Michelin predicted higher temperatures and ended up supplying the teams with a big time overkill in compound durability when something stickier was needed.

Things are just not going well for Hayden and even though he's by his own wording " a Honda guy", I can't help but hope he finds another ride for '09.

Impressive AMA supersport performance from Ben Bostrom, winning by a large span.
